What happens when the worlds of spring break and St. Patrick's Day collide? A hot, drunk mess and South Florida will have a lot of cleanup to do come Monday morning. In the meantime, there are plenty of ways to party away the weekend with food (but mostly drink) in hand. Not into the whole frat party scene? There are alternatives to consider, as well. 5. Opening party for Third-Annual Peeps Show
If green beer and shepherd's pie don't rev your holiday-eats engine, skip ahead to Easter with the opening of the third-annual Peeps Show from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery in downtown Lake Worth. Admission is free, though hanging with the sugar-laden artwork may inspire you to stock up on Easter candy on the drive home. One caveat: don't attempt to eat the art.
4. Food trucks at Bedner's Farm Fresh Market
A Saturday afternoon spent out in the country air, picking your own fruit, and getting lunch from a food truck is the antithesis of crowding into a packed beachside bar rife with wasted spring breakers in various degrees of undress. Get the kids out of town and check out Bedner's Farm Fresh Market between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday. In addition to tons of food and drink options, there are kid-friendly activities and plenty of ways to tire out the youngsters.
3. Demonstrations of Sado: The Way of Tea
Learn about the intricacies of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens' tea ceremony demo on Saturday afternoon. The program is noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. in the Seishin-an tea house. The cost is $5 with paid admission to the museum. Call 561-495-0233 ext. 210.
2. Wine tasting event at the Backyard Bar
Winemaker Kat McDonald (Art + Farm Winery) will share six of her wines with guests during a wine tasting event at Backyard Bar in West Palm Beach. The admission fee is a $35 suggested donation to the CF Foundation and the event starts at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday). Each wine will be paired with a light bite.

St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, but the celebrations will rage on all weekend long. And it's not just about silly Shamrock-bedecked costumes and ridiculous amounts of green beer (which, c'mon, is pretty nasty). It's also a good time to indulge in hearty, stick-to-the-ribs fare like corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew, while washing it down with a pint of Guinness. South Florida likes a good party, so count on tons of options this weekend, including parades, street parties, and lots o' live music.
