5. Second annual Love Stinks Party

At the risk of infecting Charlie's readers with a J. Geils Band ear-worm, we'll mention the anti-Valentine's Day fete -- the Love Stinks Party -- from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight (Thursday) at Whiskey Blue and Living Room at W Fort Lauderdale. There's no cover charge for the singles party and parking is $5 with validation. Both bars are serving specialty Valentine's Day-themed drinks, like the "candy heart" and "love potion #9", through the end of February.

4. A Valentine's Day You Can Look Forward To

The Blind Monk recognizes that Valentine's Day can be an anxious, uneasy affair for some. Their Valentine's Day wine tasting is designed to put couples, singles, or "whatever your affiliation" at ease with a champagne reception followed by five wine tastings, each of which will be paired with a small bite, like white-wine-poached shrimp and goat cheese and veal meatballs. The cost is $35 per person. The event is 6:45 tonight (Thursday). RSVP at 561-833-3605.

3. Raid the Cellar

Bistro 1001 in West Palm Beach has a new "raid the cellar" promotion where diners/drinkers can get half-off select bottles of wine from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday. Some of the bottles start at $18 regular price, so there are deals to be had and the list will change every week. Stick around for a bite and get small dishes from $3 to $7 until 7 p.m.

2. HeArts on the Drive

It's a choose-your-own-adventure of sorts. Hit Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors for HeARTs on the Drive and hang out in the "public living room" and listen to roaming street musicians. Or, go for a walk and check out the art hanging in nearby galleries. The culinary aspect comes into play when you take advantage of the excuse to try one of the dozens of restaurants and quick-hit joints in the area. The free event is 5 to 10 p.m. and the cost of dinner will depend on the restaurant you select.

1. Love in the Park

What a classy way to treat your Valentine; Love in the Park at Huizenga Plaza tonight (Thursday) includes a picnic dinner and wine, plus romantic music and a tranquil outdoor setting. Tickets are $80 for general seating. Get more information by calling 954-468-1541, but do so with haste. There's limited seating and, um, today is Valentine's Day... (Read more about Love in the Park before making the call.)
