Trying to maintain a healthy diet while eating out is a nightmare in and of itself, but if you don't know what you're doing, staying healthy at home requires some effort, as well -- i.e., you kind of have to know how to cook.

To help the newly drafted Florida Panthers and local minor-league hockey players in their salubrious endeavors, Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs is going to give them a lesson today, in-store.

And we have details on how to sneak a peek at the new professional athletes.

Starting at 3 p.m. -- and again at 4 p.m. -- this afternoon, Whole Foods' healthy-eating specialists will be taking two groups of players around the store for tours.

The tours will focus on how to shop for nutrient-dense foods and will culminate with Health Starts Here® smoothies at the in-store Allegro Coffee Bar & Cafe.

The players include Rookie of the Year Jonathan Huberdeau, 2013 First Round Pick Aleksander Barkov, 2012 First Round Pick Michael Matheson, 2010 Second Round Pick Alex Petrovic, 2013 Second Round Pick Ian McCoshen, and approximately 25 more.

Word of advice: If you're looking to sneak a peek at the strapping young lads, we would suggest lingering around the produce or prepared-food sections.

At the same time, chefs Bill Schwarz, David Ferdinando, and Harris Udell of Whole Foods Market Coral Springs will conduct cooking demonstrations for both groups of players at a kitchen located in Pompano Beach.

This is the third consecutive year that Whole Foods and the Florida Panthers have joined together for the program.

Whole Foods Market Coral Springs is located at 810 University Drive. Call 954-753-8000, or visit wholefoodsmarket.com.
