There's one more weekend of Oktoberfest fun to be had in Lake Worth, but if you've already gone the traditional German beer fest route this month and would like to try something new, there are a few events premiering this weekend in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Here's a look at nine food and drink events this weekend in Broward and Palm Beach counties:
Tonight:
Food trucks at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino -- There is certainly no shortage of food truck rallies in South Florida, but this weekly gig at the Seminole has proven to be among the more consistent. More than 20 trucks will be on hand from 5:30 to 10 p.m. with familiar names like Sugar Yummy Mama, Ms. Cheezious, Latin Burger and Taco, and gastroPod. There is no charge to attend, and free parking is available, but you'll of course need to bring cash if you plan on getting something to eat.
Pink Party at SoLita in Delray Beach -- Have an evening cocktail and help raise funds to fight breast cancer at the Pink Party from 6 to 9 p.m. at SoLita Italian Restaurant and the Parlor Lounge in Delray Beach, 25 NE Second Ave. For a $20 donation, you get one pink cocktail, appetizers, and a goody bag. Pink attire is suggested, so leave the goth gear at home.
Friday:
Food truck event in Delray Beach -- "Mix of Music for the Masses," a new weekly free concert series in Old School Square premieres this week with a performance by Amber Leigh and a food-truck rally in downtown. Although there's no cost for the concert, you'll want to bring some cash if you're jonesing for a snack or something from the cash bar that will be available. The event is 7 to 10:30 p.m., rain or shine.
Toasts, Tastes & Trolleys -- Want a swanky Friday-night plan? The Boca Raton Historical Society's fall fundraising event begins at Boca Raton Resort & Club with champagne and apps, moving on to a trolley ride about town with stops at several restaurants for drinks and a progressive dinner of small bites. The event wraps back at the Resort with dessert and dancing. The cost is $100 to $125; call 561-395-6766, ext. 101.
Saturday:
Delray Bash -- Can't decide where to eat on Saturday night? Try a bit of everything at the first Delray Bash, a glutton's dream come true, with samplings from more than 25 local restaurants like Dada, Buddha Sky Bar, and the Falcon House, plus cocktails, a wine garden, and beer pavilion. Tickets cost $50, and the bash is 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Old School Square in downtown Delray Beach. It may go without saying, but this will be a 21-and-older event. Proceeds benefit the American Lung Association.
Viva Broward! Hispanic Heritage Festival -- This two-day festival hosted at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood features vendors hawking authentic Latin eats, in addition to live music, exhibits, and craft booths. The festivities are noon to midnight Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. A one-day pass is $20 for adults and $5 for kids age 6 to 11, free to kids 5 and younger. A two-day pass is $30.
Cooking class with the Neelys -- Pat and Gina Neely, the affable cohosts of Food Network's Down Home With the Neelys, will be in Boca Raton for a book signing and cooking demo at Publix Apron's Cooking School. One hitch: The class ($65) is fully booked. You can, however, sign up to be on the waiting list.
Sunday:
Gourmet food trucks in Boynton Beach -- A handful of Gourmet Truck Expo trucks will be available to service your grumbling belly at the Downtown Open Market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Boynton Beach. Cheese Me, Curbside Gourmet, and Guiseppe's Italian Sausage, plus a few others, will be at the event, in addition to more than 50 art vendors.
Last day of Oktoberfest in Lake Worth -- Give those lederhosen or dirndl one last spin before you pack away the stein for another year. This is the final weekend for Oktoberfest at the American German Club of the Palm Beaches in Lake Worth, and the party rages from noon to 8 p.m. on the final day. Admission is $7 or $5 with a coupon printed from the event's website.
