Finding some action can be pretty easy in South Florida. Scoring a piece of it for yourself is significantly harder. And despite the plethora of good pizza pies out there, to find yourself a real New York-style slice -- extra-large, oozing with oil from the high-quality mozzarella, and just sprinkled with oregano -- you need to journey to Poppy's Pizza & Subs II (8373 W. Sunrise Blvd., Plantation, 954-424-0671). The place is jam-packed most of the time with orders for whole pies, but you can always walk in for an under-two-bucks slice. You'll know it's worth it when you bite in to the juicy piece and a blister immediately appears on the roof of your mouth -- and then you'll also be privy to why New Yawkers talk the way they do.
