Forget about Tipperary -- it's a long, long way to Texas, so before you hit the road, you might want to make a pit stop in Dania Beach. That's where you'll find Charlie's Bar-B-Q (1302 S. Federal Hwy., 954-924-0109), a Texas-style eatery sandwiched between a Pizza Hut and a McDonald's. It looks like a typical burger joint, but the slow-roasted ribs here couldn't be further from commercial fast fare. You can tell the quality of the place from the barbecue sauce, which has bits of pork in it and is kept hot; be sure to ask for a side of it when you order the beef brisket, pork loin, smoked sausage, or any of the other meats. Then sit down at the picnic-style tables and consume, and you'll change your mind about the lack of good barbecue in Broward.
