On April 25, chef Tony Sindaco, proprietor of Sea in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, will host chef Angelo Elia of Casa D'Angelo for a six-course tasting menu for 22 people. The evening begins at 7 p.m. and costs $99, not including tax and gratuity. Seghesio Wines directs the pairings, which include Pinot Grigio, Zinfandel, and Sangiovese.
Sindaco confirms that courses will alternate between chefs, which will include burrata, crudo, paccheri Amatriciana with guanciale, snapper with polenta, and a veal course.
Even when it's not the setting for a six-course dinner, Sea Restaurant is easily one of my favorite in the area. This charming little slip features a chalkboard menu that lists about a dozen entrées each night -- predominantly fish -- at
three-course prices between $25 and $35, which includes a selection of
first courses and desserts. A la carte is available too.
If you can't snag a seat at this special dinner -- which, with so few seats, you'll be in luck if you do -- be sure to book a table or wander in for a seat at the bar. Any fan of seafood will add it to his restaurant rotation. If you haven't yet, be sure to order the conch chowder. It is sublime.
