Tonight at 6 pm, C&I Studios in the FAT Village in Fort Lauderdale will kick off its new night, simply titled BBQ at C&I Studios - a free, monthly BYOB event featuring burgers and hot dogs (including vegan options), along with "the largest game of beer pong ever."
name for itself in the FAT Village neighborhood since moving into the
4,000-square-foot warehouse space in 2011 with its themed Art Walk
events, $1 movie nights, and Live at C&I mini music festivals. The
events draw crowds of mixed ages and styles -- "anyone who is tired of
going to Vibe and Yolo and is starving for something real," says C&I
Executive Director Josh Miller.
Count on meeting new people and mingling with Fort
Lauderdale's growing community of creative types outside while enjoying
the free grub, hot off C&I's brand new grill. Event Manager Cory
Bost will be giving away C&I t-shirts to beer pong winners.
With new creatively-focused
businesses and events popping up all over the area, including
independent craft and artisan food markets like Flagler Village's Night
Owl Market and Food In Motion, it seems the community is responding well
to the small but growing scene in the young Fort Lauderdale arts district.
"We
love to throw awesome events and for the community have a place to go,"
Miller says. "As we grow and our events grow, we are growing FAT
Village."
The free
BBQ will last until 8 pm.
