Free Mystery Gift Cards to First 500 Customers at Davie Whole Foods Grand Opening

After nearly 20 years in Plantation, the Whole Foods Market will be relocating to its new location in Davie this month.

The new store will cover 43,595 square feet (around 14,500 more than its former location), allowing the store to cater to a wider number of residents in western Broward County. The expansion makes way for number of innovations, part of Whole Foods' growth plans to include more amenities to customers.

The most exciting feature to be added to the upgraded Davie location: an in-store beer and wine bar known as the Watering Hole. It will have 16 beer taps (as well as two flavors of kombucha) and will serve specialty food items like grilled cheese and charcuterie.

In addition to the ten seats available at the Watering Hole, Whole Foods Market Davie will have a community table that provides easy-access standing room for up to 20 people, what is just one small part of an indoor/outdoor café that can seat more than 150 customers.

And while every Whole Foods has a prepared foods and specialty foods section, at the Davie store, expect to find a number of unique items available only here. It's especially intriguing if you like Asian fare: The store's Sushi Maki vendor will have handmade dim sum, build-your-own Vietnamese pancakes, Hawaiian poke and Peruvian ceviche bowls, and other Asian-fusion specialties.

And if you like-a-da-soup, a large soup-bar station will offer a daily selection with 20 varieties, all served alongside an organic salad bar, panini and sandwich station, and authentic Italian-style pizzeria.

For those who prefer healthier fare, a coffee and juice bar will open daily at 7 a.m. with grab-and-go breakfast snacks. Local companies will contribute exclusive products like Miami-based Juicera (a cold press juice company) and U RAWk raw energy bars. There will also be a healthy eating specialist on-staff to help educate customers on making decisions about healthy foods, teach cooking classes, and give guided store tours.

Another unique addition: an entire isle dedicated to the Whole Kids Foundation featuring kid-friendly stuff like games and activities and personal care products.

If you're feeling charitable, brave the opening-day crowds to support a good cause. Throughout the year, Whole Foods Market gives back to the local community with its "5% Days," when the store donates 5 percent of a day's profits to charity. For the new store opening, Whole Foods will celebrate with five charities, each receiving 1 percent. The beneficiaries are Old Davie School Historical Museum, EASE Foundation, Pets In Distress Inc., Hope Outreach Center Inc., and Project Stable.

The Davie Whole Foods Market will open Wednesday, February 11. The opening celebrations begin at 8:45 a.m. with a bread-breaking ceremony; doors open at 9 a.m. The first 500 customers in line on opening day will each receive a mystery gift card valued at $5, $10, $20 or $50. One card valued at $500 will be in the mix.
