If you're the type of person who needs a good excuse to indulge in some syrup-drenched buttermilk pancakes, then today is most certainly your day.

Start your morning -- heck, even end your day -- with "a short stack and a good act" by participating in IHOP's sixth annual National Pancake Day Celebration. Simply head over to any of the more than 15 IHOP locations in Palm Beach and Broward County and order up a FREE short stack of pancakes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Since 2006, IHOP has been offering its three buttermilk pancake short stack for free in an effort to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. The idea: rather than pay for your pancakes, contribute the dough to the charity that supports underfunded children's hospitals nationwide instead.

Since its inception, the one-day fundraising event has forked over more than 10 million flap jacks and raised over $5 million. And this year should be no exception: IHOP's 2011 goal is to raise $2.3 million -- up from the $2.1 million raised in 2010.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and eat a stack. After all, it's for a good cause!
