Certain food items are just supposed to go together: spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and cheese, burgers and fries, nutella and bananas.

Beer and pizza, however, is one of the best combos since sliced bread -- with peanut butter and jelly, obviously.

One of South Florida's favorite pizza joints has recently teamed up with one of the best brewers in town to bring together the perfect beer and pizza pairing.

Funky Buddha has created a signature beer for Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza.

Every South Florida location of the coal-burning pizza place will begin serving Fuhgeddaboudit Red this Friday, just in time for those V-Day pies.

Referred to as an Italian-American ale, the 5.4 percent alcohol by volume brew, has been made with a blend of European barley and English hops. It was designed to balance out the crisp coal-fired crusts while matching the delicate and vibrant tomato sauce.

Anthony Bruno, founder and CEO of Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza, was interested in creating the pairing after trying the brewery's beer.

"When I first tasted Funky Buddha's brews, I knew it was a great fit," said Bruno. "Their creativity and great taste for unique craft beers convinced me they were the perfect match for Anthony's."

Bruno isn't the only one excited about the collaboration; the folks at Funky Buddha are excited to work with the locally owned chain.

"This collaboration makes so much sense to us because, as companies, we share a lot in common," says KC Sentz, owner and general manager at Funky Buddha Brewery. "With both of our roots here in the Fort Lauderdale area and our commitment to the finest, natural ingredients, this beer will be a perfect pairing."

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has various locations across Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Visit acfp.com.
