The Place: Grille 66 & Bar, 2301 SE 17th St., Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-728-3500.

The Hours: 5 to 7 p.m. every day.

The Deal: Two-for-one martinis, premium cocktails, domestic beer, and selected wine. Bar menu featuring a handful of appetizers is half-price.

The Digs: Tucked into the corner of the grounds of the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 abutting the Intracoastal and the 17th Street Bridge, Grille 66 caters to

a sophisticated crowd. The long bar, and the tall, round tables in front of it, provide plenty of room to grab a place to mingle and/or watch the game on the two flat-screens behind the bar. The seemingly endless number of lights (recessed in the ceiling, accenting the booze, table lamps, even lights under the bar) manages to be tasteful and not overwhelming. But the real selling point of the place, other than the design and décor, is the sweeping view of the water and the yachts the size of hotels docked in it.

The Verdict: The deal here is comparable, if not equal, to the well-known Happy Hour at the venerable Mai-Kai. The hours are even similar. This is fitting, as at both you get an assortment of cocktails, and a small selection of food to cut it with, at an unusually affordable price.
