Are we ready for this? Sure, we've all gotten used to the fact that the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa would shape up the area tourist-wise; the two years of construction and $800 million spent gave us plenty of clues, not to mention time to adjust. But Hollywood and Hallandale beaches may just be a wee reluctant to become known as HoBe and HaBe -- a distinct possibility if other restaurateurs follow Jack Penrod's suit. The infamous restaurateur, who opened the Penrod's complex (now known as Nikki Beach and Pearl) on South Beach and actually succeeded in making the transition from bikini-contest venue to club-kid top spot, has opened Satine (3555 S. Ocean Dr., Hollywood, 954-602-8330). Named for the lead character in Moulin Rouge, the restaurant-lounge is manned -- make that womanned -- by Asian-Caribbean maven Donna Wynter, formerly at Donna's Bistro at the David William Hotel and the Biltmore in Coral Gables. But don't think the atmosphere is going to be staid. Along with dish names like "The Big Cheese" and "Forbidden Fruit," there'll be late-night entertainment -- DJs, divas, and doyennes of VIP tables -- until 4 a.m. Reserve that champagne now.
