He's irrepressible, he's talented, and he's back. Not that he ever really left us since he started making a name for himself as the Caribbean Cowboy down in Miami, but Johnny Vinczencz has indeed quit the employ of the Sundy House in Delray Beach. After developing De La Tierra there and in Taos, New Mexico, at a sister resort for the past two years, winning national attention, and getting invited to cook at the James Beard House, Vinczencz once again has heeded the yearning to open an eponymous venture. Last time, it was Johnny V's on South Beach, a joint with such good fare that it received a ton of critical acclaim but fell short of greenbacks. This time, it'll be Johnny V's on Las Olas Boulevard. "My own place," he says. "Imagine that." Well, I can, especially because I've been eating at his places, whether he owned them or not, since the early '90s. The new place at 625 Las Olas Blvd. will open in December. The phone number: 954-761-7920.
