Krispy Kreme, the doughnut that's loved by young and old alike, is turning 75 this year, which is cause for a blow-out celebration. And this week, Broward is getting some Krispy Kreme love.
In honor of the occasion, Krispy Kreme has announced plans to open a new doughnut shop at Sunshine Plaza in Tamarac (4299 W. Commercial Blvd). Though the store (which will turn out doughnuts fresh from the oven, glaze still liquid and gooey), won't be open for a few months, stop by anyway, because from July 5 to 7, the Krispy Kreme Cruiser will be there from 3 to 8 p.m. each day, giving out doughnuts, coffee, and prizes.
The Cruiser, a branded 1960 Flxible Starliner, has been fashioned into a
Krispy Kreme museum of sorts, and you're invited inside for a tour. Try
your luck at the prize wheel for a chance to win doughnuts, coffee, and
promotional items.
The cruiser's Broward stop is one of 500 in
a 175-day campaign covering 37 states, which will bring doughnuts and fun to just
about every Krispy Kreme store in America.
Be sure to mark July
13 on your calendar, the doughnut chain's actual birthday, because on
that day you'll get a second dozen doughnuts for 75 cents when you purchase
any dozen at a Krispy Kreme shop. That's one sweet deal.
