With St. Patrick's Day knocking on the door and the New Times "Original" Beerfest 2012 mere weeks away, we've got beer on the brain. Which is why the "Cooking With Beer" demonstration this Friday night at Publix Apron's Cooking School in Boca Raton sounds so enticing. For $45, you'll get to learn how to prepare a four-course, beer-rich menu and taste each dish with a beer that compliments the meal.
Nicole Newman, a sous chef and event planner with the Boca Raton school, said the demo will proceed like a meal. The first course -- in this case, baby greens with Torpedo candied walnuts and grilled apples -- is brought out and served to seated attendees as they learn about the preparation and how to pair the dish with the appropriate beer. The process continues with each course.
"We usually serve each dish with a wine pairing, but we'll do a beer pairing for this," Newman said.
The remaining courses include a hard cider-braised pork rib slider with blue cheese mayo, a Guinness-glazed flank steak with Harp-infused colcannon, and a dessert of Marzen bread pudding. The demo starts at 6:30 p.m. Reserve a spot online or call 561-994-4883.
