A homebrewing class is a homebrewing class, but a homebrewing class with Florida Brewing Company's Bobby Gordash is a chance to learn from an award-winning brewer who works for the state's largest-production craft brewery.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs, Gordash will talk tricks of the brewing trade and divulge a few brewing techniques for FBC beers like Florida Lager, Southermost Wheat, and Swamp Ape IPA. And yes, you will also be tasting them.

The price is $10 for a ticket that also includes a custom six-pack of Florida Beers selected by FBC beer experts. After the brew session, Gordash will sit down for a nice Q&A over a little beer sippin'. Ten bucks for a brew class from a one of Florida's top brewers and you get to ask him anything beer-related. It's as casual as you can get, but that's normal among craft beer heads.
Many in the brewing circuit know Gordash as the man who started Holy Mackerel Beers back in 2006 after winning a nationally renowned Sam Adams home brewers award. Gordash sold the company in 2011. He remained there until June 2013, when he moved on to FBC, where he applies his brewing expertise to the research and development of new recipes and acts as a brand ambassador.
One of Gordash's crown jewels he brewed while at Holy Mackerel is Panic Attack, a 10 percent Belgian Trippel/Saison fusion.

Gordash is working FBC's next line of brews launched in 2014: a Belgian strong ale and a white IPA. Also on his plate is a beer brunch he's planning at the Fort Lauderdale Whole Foods on October 26.
Formerly in Melbourne, the Florida Brewing Company is currently finishing an expansion to a new facility in Cape Canaveral. Construction for the tasting room is finishing, and soon the brewery will be open for tours.
