Maple. Bacon. Coffee. Beer. Say those four words and South Floridians will agree they are the main ingredients in one of their favorite beers from Funky Buddha Brewery. They call it MBCP, short for Maple Bacon Coffee Porter.

It's also the Oakland Park-based brewery's most-sought-after annual release — so popular, in fact, its brewers have even dedicated an entire day's worth of festivities to honor its creation. This weekend, you can get a taste — and maybe even a few bottles of the stuff — when Maple Bacon Coffee Porter Day returns this Saturday.

On January 9, literally thousands of beer aficionados will descend on Oakland Park for Funky Buddha's annual Maple Bacon Coffee Porter Day — what many would argue is the brewery's most popular brew. In years past, the event was free and open to the public, but not anymore.

Instead, the 2016 Maple Bacon Coffee Porter Day is gearing up to be an epic celebration, an event that's expanded its scope and moved off-site to Jaco Pastorius Park for a ticketed event that has been limited to just 4,000 attendees. And in case you haven't purchased a ticket yet, you're in luck: There's a limited number of tickets still available.

Full-bottle-access general-admission tickets are on sale now. A $75 fee will get you access to the event, plus four bottles of the once-a-year release of Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, which are picked up upon exit from the festival grounds. There's no need to wait in line for bottles or purchase them onsite as with years past. Instead, all you need to do is show up and drink some beer. More than 100 unique brews will be on draft throughout the day, as well as food available from some of South Florida's favorite food trucks and Funky Buddha's own Craft Food Counter & Kitchen.

The Maple Bacon Coffee Porter release party will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at Jaco Pastorius Park (adjacent to the brewery) located at 4000 N. Dixie Highway in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are on sale now at mbcpday.com, or call 954-440-0046.
