Sharpen your sweet tooth and consider making an appointment with your dentist if you plan on hitting up two coming additions to the dining mix at CityPlace.

Sometime this month, look for the debut of Sugar Chef, a cupcake specialist and custom-cake design shop that will go into a tiny space under the Harriet Himmel Theater on Hibiscus Street. More than a dozen "gourmet" cupcakes will be baked daily, from black-and-white to carrot cake, along with quarter-pound mothers filled with gooey goodies like blackout cheesecake.

The CityPlace Sugar is the second location for chef-owner Jennifer Ladisky, whose 3-year-old Sugar Chef in Delray Beach is something of a local Charm City Cakes (check out the Shelby Cobra cake pictured above). Does that make her a local Duff?

We report. You decide.

And coming to take the edge off our typical flamethrower summers is Rita's (172 S. Rosemary Ave., no phone yet), purveyor of cooling Italian ices, custards, and gelati in more than 40 flavors ranging from the usual vanilla-chocolate-strawberry to blue raspberry, Key lime, and twisted melon. Sugar-free too, in case you don't feel like helping your dentist make the payments on a new M3.
