Alexandra "Alex" Scott was just four years old when she decided to old a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for children with cancer.
That original lemonade stand raised over $12,000 but Alex wasn't happy until she reached a goal of a million dollars. This little warrior was fighting her own battle with the disease and, sadly, she lost her fight in 2004, before reaching her eighth birthday.
Alex's legacy lives on, with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, raising more than $75 million toward fulfilling Alex's dream of finding a cure, funding over 375 research projects nationally.

The foundation has turned into a movement, with both grassroots fundraisers and major corporations getting onboard to raise money. In an effort to spread awareness of childhood cancer and raise funds for life-saving research, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar is hosting their own fundraiser.
Throughout the month of July, Applebees locations throughout Palm Beach County will be selling paper lemons to guests for a $1 requested donation and donating 100 percent of proceeds to benefit the cause. In addition, Applebee's will donate $.25 back to Alex's Lemonade Stand for each lemonade product sale, including Bacardi Summer Squeeze, Strawberry Quencher, flavored lemonades and frozen lemonades.
Looks like a good time to get a refreshing frozen drink and raise your glass to one brave little girl who spent her time making sure the world was a better place.
