It's a busy weekend night at World of Beer in Coconut Creek. By 9 p.m., the bar area has turned into a dense sea of bodies that spill out of the front door and into the Promenade sidewalk. Every last table is spoken for, and there's almost no room to stand either. People who do manage to grab their beers at the bar shuffle outside and find seats on the Promenade's planters located up and down the sidewalk. It looks like a concert or a sporting event rather than an average night at a beer bar.
Bu that's basically the scenario every weekend at World of Beer, the new craft beer bar located in the Promenade in Coconut Creek. The 500-plus-bottle beer mecca has been ass-to-glass packed since it opened in early July, and for good reason. The place is a helluva lot of fun, with reasonably priced brews from across the world, live music, sports, and food delivered by nearly every restaurant in the Promenade to keep you company. But this weekend, the party threatens to get even crazier as the World of Beer hosts its grand-opening celebration on Saturday, August 28.
The party will start at 3 p.m., when Coconut Creek Mayor Lisa K.
Aronson cuts the official grand-opening ribbon. To emcee the event,
WQAM will broadcast live until 7. And from 4 to 8 p.m., comers
can sample free food from neighboring eateries Scarfone's Coal Fired
Pizza, Crepe Maker, Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, City Fish Grill, and 160
Degrees. Plus, there will be a ton of giveaways and prizes, including
cruise tickets courtesy of Abi's Place. To cap it all off, local band the Smugglin' Yo-Yos will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
If you can manage to drink from 3 in the afternoon to 1 in the morning, you, sir or madam, are a champ.
