The restaurant industry is constantly changing. If it's not a new restaurant opening or a fresh trend, it's a new chef or an old one moving back in.

Though it may be hard to keep track from time to time, it certainly keeps things interesting.

Paula DaSilva, executive chef of 1500 Degrees at the Eden Roc, one of Esquire's "Best New Restaurants in America" in 2011, is making her way back to Broward County. She will be jumping in to fill Dean Max's shoes at 3030 Ocean at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

On August 1, DaSilva returns to her alma mater, where she began her culinary career at the age of 19 under the tutelage of former executive chef Dean James Max.

While working as 3030's chef de cuisine, DaSilva spent time as a contestant on the reality show Hell's Kitchen.

After more than ten years in 3030's kitchen, she left to open 1500 Degrees as executive chef back in late 2010.

Aside from the Esquire nod, DaSilva has received numerous awards, including New Times Broward-Palm Beach's "Best Celebrity Chef" 2009, Miami New Times' "Tastemakers," and Miami New Times' "Best Steak House" 2011.

"My time at 3030 Ocean was instrumental in my development as a chef," says DaSilva. "Returning to Harbor Beach gives me a wonderful opportunity to honor its past and be a part of its exciting new future."

Obviously, the staff is looking forward to her return.

"We're thrilled to welcome back Paula," said property general manager Kimberly Wilson. "There are many exciting things in the works. We see Paula's return here as part of this property's ongoing evolution and growth as a dining and social hot spot for visitors and locals alike."

3030 Ocean is located at 3030 Holiday Drive in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-525-4000, or visit 3030ocean.com.
