When Maurice Harris walked into the Dunkin' Donuts in Dania Beach late yesterday morning, he didn't realize he would get a little something extra to go with his coffee -- like a side order of cash.

Harris was the surprise winner of $1,000 as part of the restaurant chain's "Iced Coffee Cash & DDash" promotion. The promotion, which runs through July 31, randomly gives an extremely large check to one Dunkin' Donuts customer each day. Yesterday, Clean Plate Charlie got a "heads up" that the giveaway would occur at a South Florida location.

Harris, a 39-year-old pharmacy technician who lives in Pembroke Pines, said that the money would come in handy.

"I was just thinking about how I needed the extra money to pay for my son's private school tuition," said Harris. "I was just here picking up coffee for the office. I love Dunkin' Donuts."

Looks like Harris can spring for a few dozen donuts for his coworkers to go with that coffee.
