If you've ever had food poisoning, you'll know, it feels like death. And no, we're not talking about that time you told you boss you had food poisoning when you were really covering up a bad hangover. Nice try.
Some forms of food-borne pathogens are much worse than others: Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria. This week, Publix voluntarily recalled one of its Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad, because of fears of Listeria contamination.

The grocery store received notification of potential contamination from the Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad supplier, Allison's Gourmet Kitchens. The salad with UPC #41415-39662, was distributed in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It was sold in pre-packaged 12 ounce containers with the use by dates of 4/5/2013, 4/14/2013, and 4/17/2013.
Listeria monocytogenis can cause serious infection in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy adults may only suffer short-term flu-like symptoms, such as fever, headache, stiffness, and digestive tract issues. According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, an average of 1,600 cases of Listeria are contracted each year.
As of yesterday, no illnesses had been reported in connection with the product.
All consumers who have purchased the Tri Fruit and Grain Salad may return the product to any store for a full refund. Customers with additional questions can call the Customer Care Center at (800) 242-1227, or visit the website, here.
