Reality TV Stars Open "Sea-to-Table" Restaurant in West Palm Beach's CityPlace

Yet another restaurant will join West Palm Beach's CityPlace when Bowery Palm Beach opens in the former BB King’s and Lafayette’s space this week.

When it opens on Thursday, December 8, Bowery Palm Beach will be the fifth restaurant to join West Palm’s entertainment plaza in the past 12 months. It follows the opening of Lindsay Autry's The Regional Kitchen, City Tap House, Cabo Flats, and Brother Jimmy’s BBQ.

According to its founders and reality TV stars Joe Cirigliano and Karena Kefalas  the 12,000-square-foot space located on the center's second level will include two distinct parts: the Bowery Coastal restaurant, featuring upmarket seafood, and Bowery LIVE music venue.

Cirigliano and Kefalas say they've always had a way of being in the right place at the right time; the couple's sense of adventure led them to open a similar venue in St. John Island when they landed a spot on HGTV’s property-hunting series Caribbean Life in 2015. Rather than buy their dream home, the couple decided to purchase their "dream bar" instead, an establishment that earned them local fame when country singer Kenny Chesney declared his song “When I See This Bar” had been written for them.

The couple went on to appear in a number of HGTV shows after that, filming episodes for Married at First Sight, Snapped, and Life’s a Beach.

Cirigliano and Kefalas, who named their newest West Palm Beach restaurant after their home in New York City, have teamed up with a mutual acquaintance (and owner of BB King Restaurants) to rebrand the former Lafayette's.

To execute its "sea-to-table" concept, Bowery's partner and executive chef Anthony “Theo” Theocaropoulos has designed the menu. A native New Yorker, Theocaropoulos' career includes stints at Michael White’s Ai Fiori and Mario Batali’s Eataly New York La Pizza & La Pasta. The chef was also the culinary inspiration behind Cooklyn, an establishment formerly planned for the 150 Worth shopping plaza in Palm Beach.

Bowery's menu describes starters like steamed bao "buns" stuffed with a variety of fillings, including gator with pickled jalapeño and garlic aioli; shrimp with spicy mayo, pickled red onion, and cabbage; lamb with pickled daikon, feta cream, and fresh dill; and pork with white sesame, cucumber, and cilantro.

A selection of pastas will include the chef's own specialty, a lobster mac and cheese with Fontina fondue, six-minute egg, and fresh basil, as well as squid ink agnolotti with squid, shrimp, and scallop in a tarragon beurre blanc. Entrees include main features like snapper panzanella with fried capers and tomato confit, black cod served with a watercress pesto and poached potatoes, and octopus with Meyer lemon gel and smoked potatoes.
