• For a palace of caffeine, it sure took its slow, sweet time to open, but finally the Delray Beach Spot Coffee (44 E. Atlantic Ave.; 561-455-4041) is up and running, spilling out a variety of coffee drinks made from beans roasted in-house, plus an extensive café menu that includes everything from omelets and waffles to salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. Free WiFi too.
• And speaking of pizza, there's a new pizzeria up in Lake Park. It's Cortazzo's Brick Oven Pizza (815 Highway 1; 561-355-0805), a purveyor of New York-style pies from former Brooklyn kid Lenny Manuto. Also on the menu are the usual assortment of pizzeria suspects: wings and mozzarella sticks, calzones and stromboli, heroes and wraps, and a handful of entrées like eggplant Parmesan and sausage and peppers.
• In the Cheap Lunch department, Boynton Beach's Bar Louie has a contender with its $5.99 lunch special, a weekday menu that lets you pick from pizza, sliders, quesadilla, wraps and subs, and even add a cuppa soup for another 99 cents. It's available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
