Ralph Pagano leaves Gulfstream Park for Alba.

To many people in either Broward or Miami-Dade, crossing the invisible border that divides the two counties is a rare occurrence. Maybe it's because each county is a self-contained place to work, live, and play, or maybe it's the distinct vibe that defines each one.

Ron Kerr, however, will be working both sides of the border. The Georgie's Alibi chef has been named special-events director at Sole on the Ocean

in Sunny Isles. The 249-room beach resort just tapped chef Ralph Pagano

to head all food and beverage operations, including the 120-seat

Italian seafood restaurant Alba.

As special-events director, Kerr will be in charge of all on-premises special events, catering, and mobile events.

If

you're a fan of Kerr's kitchen skills at Georgie's Alibi, the Wilton

Manors restaurant/lounge that features award-winning burgers, worry not,

friends. Since the gig at Sole is event-driven, he will retain his

position as chef at the restaurant. In other words -- keep those burgers coming!

Kerr's food truck, Bite Gastrotruck, has also been recruited by the resort and will serve as a mobile catering unit.
