Thanksgiving is supposed to be all about togetherness, gratitude, and other feel-good platitudes, so what better location for a Turkey Day feast than a community garden? Brian Kirsch, one of the garden's organizers, said noted chef Roy Villacrusis will be preparing the centerpiece porcine, as well as "most of the meal." Several regular volunteers will be bringing side dishes and vegetarian options will be available.

The cost to attend is $12 per person. Kids nine years and younger eat for free. Oh, and you'll have to save the requisite Thanksgiving wine for later; there's no alcohol allowed on the property, which is owned by the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. The garden and center are located at 2000 North D Street in Lake Worth.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by emailing [email protected] or by calling 561-246-0148. Kirsch said "we will welcome those who just show up too."

The community garden has been the site of lots of new activity this year, including the introduction of beehives and educational seminars held on-premises. Garden volunteers also are working on opening a produce stand to sell food grown in the garden. Check out their progress this season and learn how to get involved at Thursday's feast.
