After a few glasses of wine, crunching numbers to figure out the tip for a three-digit bill can get tricky. That's why the wine scoring system is pure genius. Based on the same 100-point system we all learned in high school, where 90 equals an "A," the wine-rating scheme lets us all look like oenophiles while ordering a great glass of pinot noir. Sage French Café in Fort Lauderdale takes advantage of this easy system for its wine dinner March 10.

The menu created by Chef Laurent Tasic has paired a French wine that scored 90 points or higher with four courses, so you know walking in the door that your glass will arrive filled with an exquisite rendition of someone's favorite fermented grape juice. The meal starts with brie en croute and a Trimbach Riesling from Alsace (91 points), then coq au vin with a wine from Domaine de Mourchon in Côtes du Rhône (90 points). The third course is beef tenderloin with green peppercorn sauce and the Chateau Lilian Ladouys St. Estèphe (also 90 points), followed by the top-scoring wine of the evening the 93-point Thierry Germain Loire. Dessert is apple strudel. The cost is $59 a person.
