Bluejays Cafe may be sadly and mysteriously closed, but just across Himmarshee Street, there's a new restaurant taking shape in a historic 1925 building.
The Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House, inexplicably abbreviated as O-B/House (website), will serve an all-day breakfast menu of the usual suspects: specialty omelets, breakfast sandwiches, soups, and house-roasted coffee. The owner, Rodney Ely, also owned the building's previous tenant, the never-opened Village Pie pizza venture.
Inside: a peek at the enticing interior of the new place, all ready to go.
We haven't been able to get in touch with Ely yet; the website says it will be "finished with construction and opening summer 2011." We'll be there to try it!
