But there are still plenty of other barley-soaked happenings, plus other food and drink events, this week in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Tonight

The Blind Monk Turns Two
West Palm Beach wine/beer bar The Blind Monk will celebrate its two-year anniversary tonight with activities like a make-your-own s'mores bar, raffles, and a contest. The festivities start around 4 p.m. and continue until midnight. 

Wednesday

Free wine-appreciation class
Local wine expert Bob Burchill will give a free demo on wine appreciation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Mandel Public Library in West Palm Beach. Find more details about the event here

Hoptimism: A Brewer's Benefit for Alzheimer's Community Care
Tequesta Brewing Company is hosting a fundraiser to benefit Alzheimer's Community Care. A $25 admission fee gets you a tour of the brewery, a pint of the Tequesta beer of your choice, a meet and greet with the brewmasters, and hors d'oeuvres. The event is 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Thursday

SAIA at Sunset
SAIA in Fort Lauderdale will host its monthly sunset dinner with five courses prepared by chef Subin Chenkorsorn, and each course is paired with wine. The meal starts at 7:15 p.m., but guests should arrive at 7 p.m. The cost is $54 for solo diners or $99 for a couple, and the cost includes free valet parking. Make a reservation via OpenTable

Sommelier Charlie Arturaola at the Art of Wine and Food Series
The already popular monthly wine series at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale gets a boost this week with the appearance of noted sommelier Charlie Arturaola. The celebrity oenophile will participate in a question and answer session that follows the premiere of the film "El Camino del Vino" in which he appears. The event is 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. and the cost is $50 per person. Reservations are required; 954-262-0249, or online

Second Annual Chefs Up Front Dinner & Auction
Ten South Florida chefs -- like Andy Trousdale and Adrianna Calvo -- will participate in this fundraiser that matches a table of ten to a chef who will prepare a four-course meal for those guests. Some of the tables have already sold out, but seats remain for a few of the chefs. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction and reception. The dinner starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $200 and benefits go to FLIPANY, which focuses on introducing youth and adults to fitness and nutrition programs. The dinner will be held at the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel

Sushi & Stroll
If you missed out on last weekend's Bon Festival at Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens, you can console yourself with sake and snacks at the monthly Sushi & Stroll at 5:30 p.m. Find more details about the popular event here
