Monday

South Florida Craft Beer Week

OK, so South Florida Craft Beer Week officially kicked off on January 17, but that doesn't mean it's all over. You've still got until Sunday, January 25 to do some serious beer drinking. We'd suggest checking out M.I.A. Brewing Co., which opened its Doral taproom recently where you can find more than 15 beers on draft. A few more -- Miami's Biscayne Bay Brewing Co. and J. Wakefield Brewing in Wynwood -- are also recent newcomers to the South Florida craft beer scene. On Monday, Due South Brewing Co. will host a beer dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Blind Monk in West Palm Beach. Come Tuesday, Cigar City, Swamphead, and Saint Somewhere will be at a special event at Riverside Market in Fort Lauderdale. And on Wednesday, a Miami bar crawl will start at 5 p.m. and begins at J. Wakefield Brewing. For more information southfloridabeerweek.blogspot.com.

On Thursday, January 22, hundreds of motorcyclists will enter the fairgrounds on their bikes and parade around the perimeter to celebrate Annual Bike Night, which will culminate with a concert by Foghat, the internationally known band that came on the rock 'n' roll and blues scene in 1971. That year, four unpretentious young Brits released their first LP, "Foghat,"producing the hit singles, "I Just Want to Make Love to You" and "What a Shame." LPs to follow were "Energized" and "Rock and Roll Outlaws." Their 1975 album "Fool for the City" went platinum, yielding the Top 40 trademark hit "Slow Ride." The group has been together for 43 years, with Roger Earl on that drum seat throughout. Their latest single "Boogie Train," was released in 2014 and they are currently working on yet another CD. This band never sleeps -- they still tour relentlessly because they just love to play, which is evident in the passion and enthusiasm they display during their live performances. Don't miss them while cramming your face with fair food.
