Monday

New Year's Eve (duh)

There are dozens upon dozens of ways to ring in 2013 throughout South Florida. If you act now, it may be possible to snag a seat at one of the special New Year's Eve dinner parties included in Clean Plate Charlie's comprehensive list of special NYE dinners.

War of the Worlds Block Party

Things are gonna get weird on the 500 block of Clematis Street in West Palm Beach this evening when the War of the Worlds descends upon the city for a NYE blowout. In addition to an open premium bar for VIP ticket holders, they'll also get appetizers from Longboards. The cost for the VIP treatment is $75. It's $10 for general admission. Read more about the War of the Worlds party.

Smashburger's grand opening

The fifth Smashburger in South Florida opens today, for all you burger lovers out there (which, judging from the dozens of burger joints that have opened in recent years, is all of you). The store is in Boynton Beach and will serve regionally inspired items like grilled Spanish chorizo and frita potatoes.

Cirque-a-Licious

Cirque du Soleil's holiday themed dinner party is Monday night at Meyer Amphitheater in West Palm Beach with tickets ranging from $275 to $487.50. Tickets are available online. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tonight's menu includes Caesar salad, grilled filet mignon, a veggie mix (asparagus bundles, new carrots, and rosemary roasted potatoes), and French apple tart.

Tuesday

Cirque-a-Licious

If the NYE Cirque-a-Licious is too rich for your blood, the 6 p.m. New Year's Day option may be a better choice, with tickets priced from $29.95 to $55.95. The menu for this performance (at Meyer Amphitheater in West Palm Beach) is Caesar salad and carving stations with turkey or prime rib. Find tickets online.

New Year's Day at Cantina Laredo Modern Mexican

To help ease the pain of a post-NYE celebration, Cantina Laredo Modern Mexican (in Hallandale and Palm Beach Gardens) is offering a special three-course meal for $35 per person with optional tequila pairings for $15 per person. As a bonus, on Tuesday, guests who order an entree will get a free top-shelf guacamole.

Debut of new make-your-own bloody Mary bar

Farmer's Pick, the revamped buffet at Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park, is debuting a new make-your-own bloody Mary bar on New Year's Day. The New Year's Day buffet is $20.13. Head there for brunch or dinner.

Free drink at Tanzy

As a treat in the New Year, Tanzy in Mizner Park is offering a free Boca mimosa (made with blood orange) for every brunch entrée purchased -- by an adult, of course -- from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wednesday

STOMP appearing at Whole Foods Market

The STOMP cast will create a ruckus in Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in anticipation of their performance later that night at Coral Springs Center. The percussionists will play objects throughout the store and collect canned goods for the Broward Outreach Center of Pompano Beach. Donate a non-perishable item and get a $5 off coupon to see their show. Read more about STOMP's appearance at Whole Foods Market.

Thursday

Food Truck Invasion

The weekly food truck rally in Wellington is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wellington Amphitheater Park. There's no cost to attend; bring cash for the trucks.
