St. Patrick's Day is little more than a week away and soon, South Florida will be awash in green beer and cooked cabbage (and the after-effects of said green beer and cabbage). The celebration isn't limited to one day on the calendar; festivals and parades are popping up this weekend to give you the chance to party with the masses. Read on after the jump to find ways to celebrate -- with food and drink -- St. Patrick's Day in Broward and Palm Beach:
Saturday:
St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival in Fort Lauderdale -- The parade -- which runs along Las Olas from SE 8th Avenue to Huizenga Plaza -- starts at noon, making it the perfect excuse to finagle a table for brunch and early cocktails (or a green beer - whatever floats your boat). After the parade, head to the Huizenga Plaza to dine on traditional Irish grub and partake in the merry-making of the "everybody's Irish" spirit. The festival is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday:
St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival in Hollywood -- The Hollywood parade starts at 1 p.m. at the intersection of 21st Avenue and Harrison Street, traveling north to Hollywood Boulevard and east to Young Circle before heading south to Harrison Street and back to 21st Avenue. Meanwhile, you can hunt down Irish favorites like corned beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie at participating downtown bars and restaurants. Green beer, Irish whiskey, and/or Guinness? Yes. You will certainly be able to find all of the above.
Saturday March 17:
Muddy Waters St. Patrick's Day specials -- From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., this Deerfield Beach restaurant will serve Emerald Isle dishes like corned beef and cabbage, Guinness beef stew, shepherd's pie, and corned beef on rye. Drink specials are usual suspects like Bailey's, draft Guinness, green Miller Lite or Bud Light, Tullamore Dew, Jameson, and car bombs.
Party at The Dubliner -- Guzzle Irish and Irish-inspired drinks and chow down on Irish grub until 2 a.m. in this Mizner Park hotspot.
St. Patrick's Day "mega party" -- Murphy's Law, the Irish pub located inside of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, is hosting a party from 11 a.m. until the wee hours of the morning with specials on green beer and other Irish quaffs.
