Starbucks is 40 years old, which is weird because I never remembered Starbucks being around when I was a child...or a teen.
In fact I remember not knowing what Starbucks was until one day literally ten thousand Starbucks appeared like a mutant strain of alien virus to take over the planet with ultra expensive coffee. Suddenly, it was cool to pay five dollars for a coffee instead of a buck for the brown water that the deli on the corner served.
Believe it or not, Starbucks is 40 years old and they're finally giving back a little something to all the people like me who go into debt a little bit more each day - all for a Grande Soy Cinnamon Dolce Latte and a pumpkin scone.
Walk into a Starbucks between 2 and 5 p.m. on March 10-12, and get a free Starbucks Petites when you order any handcrafted beverage (while supplies last). The petites are cute little mini treats that come in pops, whoopie pies and petit fours in flavors like birthday cake, red velvet and lemon.
On behalf of myself and my caffeine addiction - happy birthday Starbucks. Here's to many, many more lattes.
