Su Shin Thai is located "out west" in Lauderhill — but still close enough to the beach to offer up some Zagat-rated sushi. It's been around for 26 years, serving sushi for only 23 of them; in the late '00s, new management took over and added Thai to the menu. The owner will proudly tell you that all of the fish are fresh and picked up daily. Be sure to try the "mac & cheese" roll of eel and soft shell crab with masago and topped with broiled conch and mayo. Or go with the popular Melanie and Jenny rolls — both offer up tuna tataki, shrimp tempura, scallions, mayo, garlic, and fish eggs; the Melanie's layered with avocado, and the Jenny with tuna. Thai specialties include pad Thai, of course — try the jumbo shrimp or the lobster — and the massaman curry, featuring potato, avocado, and peanuts. Both lunch and dinner are served but dinner is the main draw here, and the giant aquarium separating the ten-seat sushi bar (plus a few more tables) from the rest of the dining area may even provide some date-night appeal.
