This Saturday, September 20th, The Funky Buddha Lounge and Brewery in downtown-ish Boca Raton will be tapping literally dozens of kegs for its fourth annual anniversary party. I guess that's how anniversaries work, isn't it.

Among the standard flagships will sit a bevvy of nuanced and over-the-top flavored ales such as Carrot Cake wheat, Fluffer NutterBrown Ale, French Toast Double Brown, Rum Raisin, Hazelnut Espresso Pitti Porter, Rich Uncle Pennybags Porter, Blueberry Cobbler, Dread Pirate Roberts Imperial Stout, Last Snow, Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, Morning Wood and a variety of Berliners like Peach and Key Lime Pie will be among the releases that evening.

David Finch, the newest bar manager, is excited for the event, which will be his first manning a lot of the logistics. From food trucks to marketing, he's been working away to make this gathering a success. Even then, he's still looking to dip his toes into the Buddha's offerings that night. "I'm looking forward to the Morning Wood," he said. "I've had Fluffer Nutter before, and that was pretty good."

The Lounge's brewer Morgan Pierce has been busy himself with the prep work for the night. With over 30 beers slated to hit the tap lines, it's been a whirlwind of activity behind the scenes. "Some of the beers I'm excited for are the ones that came out better than I thought they were... some of the 'not named stuff'," Pierce told us. "I have a braggot with Belgian yeast that I did and aged it in chardonnay soaked oak, and that's the one that I'm real excited about."

That braggot, which is a malted mead or a honey beer depending on vernacular, gets an extra South Florida kick with pure local honey from resident apiarists.

"We get it from local beekeepers who come in for brewing supplies," Pierce explained, which ends up being when enough honey has been collected for a "decent sized batch".

Complementing the beer this year are Poblano's Mexican Fusion and a return of Waffy's waffles for some edible delights.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the afternoon (and an hour early for you very important Founders) and lasts until close. Timed releases are scheduled at 7, 8, and 9 p.m., and keep in mind that there will be a wider variety of beers but a smaller quantity of each.

We'll see you there, but probably won't remember you afterwards.
