Dinner and a movie? How about fancy dinner in a fancy movie theater?

Date night at the movies will reach its zenith at Silverspot Cinema, located at the Promenade in Coconut Creek, with the opening of its dining concepts in partnership with one of America's best chefs. The South Florida location is the second location in the United States, with Naples, Florida, hosting the flagship complex and a location in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to follow shortly. A theater is also planned for downtown Miami sometime in fall 2016.

Unlike other movie-theater chains, Silverspot caters to an upscale clientele with its offer of indie and foreign films mixed with Hollywood blockbusters. Seats in the theaters are upholstered with hand-stitched leather and the theater offers cocktails and food.

On June 18, Silverspot will open the first of three restaurants planned with the David Burke Group, helmed by one of the country's most acclaimed chefs. The group owns and operates 14 exclusive restaurants including David Burke Kitchen in New York City and Aspen, Fishtail, David Burke at Bloomingdale's, Spyglass, and Burke in the Box (all in New York City); and David Burke’s Primehouse in Chicago and David Burke Prime at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.

Trilogy will offer creative American cuisine in a full-service 120-seat restaurant. Burke will also oversee the theater's concessions, which will feature locally curated specialty items, a far cry from the usual nachos and hot dogs. Silverspot will also offer a premium lounge serving small plates, and moviegoers will have the option of taking meals to their theater seats.

Stephen Goglia, president and CEO of David Burke Group, says, "The opening of Trilogy will introduce David Burke Group to an entirely new audience, and we are excited to present new flavors and concepts to cinema dining with Silverspot Cinema. The Coconut Creek outpost kicks off our partnership, and we look forward to building our relationship and working together to bring the culinary and theater world closer together in a unique and inventive way that brings our combined signature styles and experiences to each location."

Executive chef Matt O'Neill has been tapped to oversee Trilogy, with signature dishes that include tuna tartare wontons with scallions and avocado mousse; asparagus salad with burrata, tomato, watermelon, prosciutto, and balsamic reduction; a duck confit bahn mi; and smoked salmon flatbread. Main courses include a BLT lobster roll; angry shrimp fajitas; and steak frites.

The cocktail menu will feature a series of drinks inspired by great films including the Seabiscuit Julep with Bulleit rye, Grand Marnier, mint, and cucumber; From Russia With Love, made with Ketel One vodka, Grand Marnier, raspberry, fresh lime, and ginger beer; and A Clockwork Mango with Flor de Cana Anejo rum, mango, fresh lime, mint, and soda.

The David Burke Group will also open a restaurant at the Chapel Hill and Naples locations, and it's a safe assumption that a Burke concept will be planned for the Miami location. More information to come on a menu and prices.
