Bar-hopping. College kids do it. Bachelorette parties do it. Even snowbirds have been known to do it. And after a long, stressful workweek, you should too.

So, here's a challenge for you: People with enough energy can put their money where their mouth is by attempting to make the rounds at the Village at Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach's sprawling open-air retail, dining, and entertainment center featuring more than a dozen bars and restaurants.

This year, the park — found just outside the city's Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino — is celebrating its five-year anniversary, and that means plenty of happy hours are available (some seven days a week) at many of the park's restaurants, outdoor cafes, nightclubs, sports bars, and even the new state-of-the-art bowling alley.

"Over the past five years, the Village at Gulfstream Park has not only become a premier destination for home design in South Florida but it’s also one of the most popular entertainment venues for both locals and tourists alike," said Corin Angel, marketing manager for the Village at Gulfstream Park. "And that includes happy hour."

In addition to Gulfstream Park’s thoroughbred horseracing and casino, adults can wet their whistles at more than a dozen happy hours, some starting as early as 3 p.m. The late-night crowd can dance the night away at Martini Bar’s free bachata class every Wednesday or let loose at Club Fate until the wee hours of the morning. Sports fans can watch their favorite teams on any of the 38 TV screens at Frankey’s Sports Bar or enjoy one of the largest selections of draft beer in the world at Yard House. Of course, even the gamblers can get in on the action during the day, with race packages available at Ten Palms restaurant, where you can also enjoy a daily happy hour (all day) from a seat overlooking the racetrack with $2 drafts and $2 glasses of wine.
