Stop calling Vanilla Ice a one hit wonder. The artist, also known as Robert Matthew Van Winkle, happens to be a multi-talented actor, rapper, and television host who didn't have just one hit song.
He had two.
In addition to the earworm that is Ice Ice Baby, there was Ninja Rap, made especially for that classic piece of cinematic genius, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze
In case you forgot all about it (or blocked it like a bad memory), the mean, green tune is back (and so is Vanilla Ice). Only this time, it's in the form of a commercial for Kraft's Teenage Mutant Ninja-shaped Macaroni & Cheese.
In the commercial, our favorite rapper is working as a supermarket stock person (hey, we all have to earn a buck somewhere) when a mom, doing the weekly grocery shopping, recognizes him. Soon they're both singing and dancing to the Go Ninja Go song while junior looks on, clearly horrified. "Word to your mutha", indeed.
Watch the cheesy goodness here:
Go behind the scenes of the shoot and listen to Vanilla Ice talk about his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle tattoo, and learn who his favorite Ninja Turtle is (hint: it's not Leonardo):
And for any of you feeling nostalgic, here's the original Ninja Rap. "Go ninja, go ninja, go!":
