Our reader Meg correctly answered this week's "Where Are We Eating?" challenge. The pic on the right was snapped at Delray Beach's Bamboo Fire Cafe, a homey restaurant run by husband-and-wife Donald and Beverly Jacobs.
The meal in question is actually curried golden crab, one of the specials that chef/hostess Beverly cooks up whenever she has fresh crabs on hand. Golden crabs are
native to the Southeastern seaboard and are often overlooked in favor
of typical blue crabs or stone crab (in season now). If you ask me,
goldens are second only to stone crabs in flavor and texture. But
they're also much larger (you get legs and a cluster as opposed to just
one claw) and cheaper. And they taste absolutely brilliant bathed in
rich sauces like this sweet and spicy curry Beverly Jacobs makes, which
finds its way into every crack and crevice and into the flaky meat.
