We've seen some interesting pairings in our lifetimes -- Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton, Cayenne pepper and mangos (delicious), cats and dogs sleeping together, chocolate in my peanut butter, but here's one for the history books -- food trucks and health clubs!
Yes, at first we were confused, too. Then we thought about what a devilishly clever marketing plan it is on the part of The Zoo Health Club's member appreciation day, this Sunday, January 15th from 10 a.m - 5 p.m. at their Oakland Park location.
The event will feature a car wash, the Jello Shot Girls, local merchants giving out free stuff, gym tours and free passes, as well as those bastions of healthy eating...food trucks. Trucks serving up lunch include:
- Arepabox
- Cheese Steak Gourmet
- COOLHAUS
- The Health Nut
- Mac'n
- Malanga Cafe
- Ms Cheezious
- Real Chill
- Slow Food Truck
- Sugar Yummy Mama
Which is perfect, because you can blow your New Year's resolution then re-set your goals -- all in one afternoon.
Dee Bhaturia, Manager of The Zoo Health Club, told us the real reason behind this unlikely pairing is simple - he's a food truck fan. "I'm an avid food truck follower. I go out to the Hard Rock every chance I get. I love them. I called some of the trucks, and they loved the idea of coming out to The Zoo".
So there's no hidden agenda about having people stuff their faces with all that good, gooey, rich food truck fare and then having a brand new state-of-the-art gym guilting them into a workout? Maybe not.
"The only thing I want after a night of eating at the food trucks is a nice nap", Bhaturia confessed. We're soooo there.
