No. 52" Encebollado de Pescado from Cafe Paraiso
Fortunately, when the Alcivar family bought Cafe Paraiso a few months ago they decided to keep many of the Cuban dishes for which Cafe Paraiso is known. In addition to classic Cuban dishes, the family has added a few tasty, new dishes to celebrate their Ecuadorean roots.
Stop by the outdoor eatery and try an over-sized bowl of piping hot Encebollado de Pescado, a tangy Ecuadorean fish soup that is heaping with shrimp, tuna, yuca and topped with tangles of pickled onion and cilantro. Need some spice in your life? Drizzle Paraiso's piquant salsa de aji casero in your soup! This spicy salsa is delicious but it's not for the faint of heart! It is strictly for those who can stand some heat, are looking to sprout some chest hair and/or have been double-dog dared to try it.
The quirky, Key West style courtyard behind the restaurant is filled with bright, kitchy artwork created by the previous owner and provides a cheery backdrop for enjoying delicious soup, hellah strong Cuban coffee, and that gorgeous new mane on your chest! The restaurant is open every day but Sunday.
