No. 57: Latin Macho burger from Latin Burger and Taco
Prior to 2010, South Florida food trucks didn't exist. But when Food Network superstar Ingrid Hoffmann and her business partner, Jim Heins, decided to bring the craze down south, they made Hoffmann's award-winning Latin Macho burger the main act. Since taking center stage early last year, it has yet to disappoint a crowd.
It may be the combination of ground chuck, sirloin and chorizo. Or the adobo seasoning mix. Maybe the homemade spicy mayo or the special Oaxaca cheese. It could be the caramelized onions oozing off the burger. Maybe it's all of it as the creation from Hoffmann went from science projects for housewives to feeding the South Florida masses by way of a food truck. For such a small meal, the amount of greasy goodness it packs inside that foil-wrapped burger is astounding. There is no way to consume this burger without a 4-napkin minimum.
Since its launch in early 2010, Latin Burger and Taco has revolutionized the South Florida food truck craze. Earlier this year, they announced the much-anticipated second truck to make its way north to Broward County more often. Latin Burger is a predominantly Miami-Dade County traveling restaurant. By finding out their locations from following them on Twitter and Facebook, fans are able to track when the food truck will be closest to them.
