Over the past few years, dairy has been added to the list of nefarious food items by health food warriors looking to demonize all that's good in the world.

We may think guzzling down a glass of milk while eating cheese pizza is disgusting -- seriously, what are you people thinking? -- however, we're all about all the wonder forms that lactose can take: cheese, butter, cheesecake, crème brûlée, flan, whipped cream, and, of course, the best dairy-filled treat of them all, ice cream.

Palm Beach Gardens is about to get a new ice cream shop this week. Carvel (best-known for those perfect little crunchy things) opened this weekend, and the shop is offering a week's worth of deals to celebrate.

The eatery is featuring eight days of deals to bring people through the doors. It builds up to free cone day next week.

This celebration is our way of thanking Palm Beach Gardens for welcoming us into the community," says John Hirsch, a Carvel franchisee who just relocated from Georgia. "Whether it's to enjoy our freshly made soft ice cream that's made right in the shoppe or to pick up a signature ice cream cake for any occasion, we hope to serve Palm Beach Gardens residents for years to come."

Here's the line-up of deals:

Monday: Buy one sprinkle cup multi-pack, get one half off

Tuesday: Buy one small cup or cone, get a kid's cup or cone free

Wednesday: Buy one classic soft ice cream sundae, get one free

Thursday: Buy one Flying Saucer® multi-pack, get one half off

Friday: Buy one Sundae Dasher™, get one half off

Saturday, September 27: Grand Opening, Free Jr. Soft-Serve Cone

The Palm Beach Gardens location highlights the new Carvel design, launched earlier this year to commemorate the brands 80th anniversary. It includes an updated look with digital menus, wood floors, new dipping cabinets, topping bars, and big display cases for its ice cream cakes -- also known as the best ice cream cakes in the world.

Carvel is located at 4254 Northlake Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens. Call 561-691-8004 or visit www.carvel.com.
