Catch Up With the Craft Brewjas at Tap 42's Cigar City Tap Takeover This Thursday
If you're a South Florida chick who gets her kicks from a good IPA -- there's a group for that. And while previously relegated to the Miami-Dade region, the Craft Brewjas (AKA wicked women who love beer) are now making their way to Broward County.
The group's founder, Arwen Lehman, and her crew will be unofficial participants this Thursday at Tap 42's Cigar City Tap Takeover. Attendees can sip some rare brews and mix and mingle with brewjas and brew daddies alike.
But what exactly does a tap takeover entail? Well, for the evening in question, Tap 42 will be tapping a whole host of kegs by Tampa's legendary Cigar City Brewing Company.
"We've got some cool kegs. The Cigar City Dos Anos Kumquat Berliner Weiss is a really cool beer," says Tap 42's creative director and craft beer director Lauren Bowen.
"Berliner Weiss are something you have to get used to for sure, but it's my favorite style of beer by far. This was supposed to be a brewery only release and they actually sent out a few kegs to a couple of their accounts. It's super exciting to have that on tap," she adds.
The takeover will also feature their Jai Alai IPA, Maduro Oatmeal Brown, Patio Tools Irish Stout on Nitro and White Oak Jai Alai IPA, which Bowen says is their most popular.
"The Cubano Espresso, we're also getting that on tap and it's gonna be awesome. It's a brown ale with espresso in it. It's like drinking a shot of espresso. It's incredibly amazing," Bowen adds.
As for the Craft Brewjas, the event is a chance for an unofficial gathering place and Broward County meetup. Plus, they love Cigar City.
"One of the primary objectives of the Craft Brewjas is to support craft breweries and we finally have several in our own backyard here in Florida. CCB really laid the groundwork for so many other folks and put Florida on the map in the craft beer world," Lehman says.
So get those palates primed and ready for a night of sipping and socializing. The event runs until the kegs are kicked, Bowen says. Once you go craft, you'll never go back.
CCB drafts will be tapped at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at Tap 42. They'll be offering their unique flights, which include three six-ounce pours (about twice what most bars would pour) of ANY draft beer for $14, or, per pint the beers will range from around $7 to $8 a pop.
The takeover kicks off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. You can RSVP and get additional event details on Facebook.
