The Crazy Greek Café in Deerfield Beach offers a menu of Greek and American favorites that are big on flavor and freshness. Brothers Stan and Greg Prakas opened the Crazy Greek in August and have been cultivating a local following since.

Greg, a Harvard Law School graduate, traded in his briefcase for a chef's apron and can be found behind the burner while Stan works the front of house, taking orders and helping customers. Both brothers come from a family in which Greek cooking has been a passion since they moved from Greece to the United States in 1922.

The café offers classic Greek fare like gyros, moussaka and

spanakopita, along with all-American hoagies and cheese steaks, which

can be "Greekified" with feta cheese. All sauces and soups are made

fresh daily, including hummus and tzatziki sauce. Specials include the

"Alexander the Great Plate" (spanakopita, grape leaves and hummus) and

"Nick's Fish Wrap," a fillet of flounder, onions, tomatoes, spinach, and

mushrooms in a wrap. Wine and beer is served, and the café offers more than a

dozen beers, including Greek favorite Mythos beer. Wines from Greece,

South Africa, and Spain are selected for their taste and value.

The café offers a frequent diner discount card, the Crazy Greek Lunch

Program. Diners who purchase a card for $50 receive unlimited buy-one,

get-one-free lunches or dinners for 90 days, after which the card expires.

The café also frequently posts specials on its Facebook page for

friends.

The Crazy Greek Café offers free delivery from Deerfield Beach to Boca

Raton and is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a,m. to 9 p.m. (closed Sunday).

Why the name? According to co-owner Stan Prakas, "We're Greek, and we're crazy"! Nuff said.
