Today is Friday the 13th and luck is on the side of food and beer lovers in South Florida. This weekend is packed with opportunity to over-indulge in craft beer, burgers, rich French food, and other goodies. After the jump, find a list of five food and drink events this weekend in Broward and Palm Beach counties.


1.Bastille Day
The French celebrate their day of independence on Saturday, so that means plenty of partying on this side of the pond. Pistache French Bistro in West Palm Beach will spend the day celebrating with special meals, street entertainment, dancers, and festive decor. Read more about the events (and find a few Bastille Day recipes) here ;Meanwhile, East End Brasserie in Fort Lauderdale will celebrate today through Sunday with various specials and a Bastille Day party from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

2. Boca Burger Battle: A Grilling Affair
This inaugural burger bash in downtown Boca Raton will feature local restaurants and vendors duking it out to see who can cook up the best burger. The competition includes a wide variety of contenders -- including a few meatless options -- as well as non-burger bites, beer, wine, spirits, and live music. The event is 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday in Sanborn Square. Read more about the it here.

3. Wicked Awesome Snackbar's Blue Point Beer Dinner
Beer is the not-so-secret ingredient in this five-course dinner at Wicked Awesome Snackbar. The Boca Raton restaurant will feature brews by Blue Point Brewing Company, incorporating them into the dishes (including dessert) and pairing them with each course. The family-style dinner starts at 7 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $30 per person. Call 561-883-3200 to reserve a spot. Read more about the event and the restaurant here.

4. World of Beer's Free Block Party
World of Beer in Coconut Creek is celebrating its two-year anniversary with a free block party starting at noon Saturday. Magic Hat and Narragansett are sponsoring the bash which will include live entertainment kicking off at 5 p.m. Due South Brewing Company will roll up at noon with their trailer for those who want to indulge in hyper-local brews.

5. Sushi and Stroll
The monthly Sushi and Stroll at Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens is 5:30 to 8:30 tonight. The discounted admission is $7 for adults and $5 for kids. For an additional $2 you can catch the Taiko drumming performance, available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to sushi and other snacks from the Cornell Cafe, the museum offers summer sakes to taste as you meander around the grounds.
