I've come up with a great new diet for taking off the holiday five. It's called diversion: Don't feed yourself, feed your dog or cat. Craving a Reese's peanut butter cup? Head over to Bone Appetit (3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale, 954-565-3343), a dog-and-cat bakery, and pick up some peanut butter biscuits for the pooch instead. (Get them dredged in carob and sprinkled with nuts, too.) Fancy some foie gras? Do your feline a favor and invest in cat-viar instead -- these little fish pellets are quite the delicacy for a kitty. 'Course, you run the risk of your animals getting addicted to certain foodstuffs and then having them turn up their finicky little noses at ordinary Purina. But at least you'll have the satisfaction of their gratitude -- and your weight loss.
