The Digs: Jesse's is the local place to enjoy intense sports action without, well, having to be extreme yourself. Located between
the Turnpike and 441, its sign beckons passers-by with its blonde backward-capped mascot sitting
inside the bar's vortex-shaped logo. Inside,
Jesse's looks like any other sports den: plenty of beer signage, TVs,
bar games, and dining tables at which to sit back and watch the game.
The difference at Jesse's is that the TVs are just as likely to feature
snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, and other similarly-spirited
recreational hazards on FuelTV as they are more conventional pastimes
like football on ESPN or the PGA tour on the Golf Channel. The décor
caters to younger tastes with surfboards, skateboards, and snowboards
exemplifying the character of the space. Even the menu is interspersed
with quotes from "Toni" Hawk and "Kelli" Slater praising the food.
Scarface memorabilia also hangs on the walls. Al Pacino, after all, is
way extreme, right?
The Verdict: If you live in or near Margate, and you're
looking for a neighborhood sports bar with some action-sports flavor,
this is it. The food and drinks are cheap. And in addition to the happy
hour, there are regular drink and food (even a Dart Grab Bag) specials
